Allersberg - Gateway to the Franconian Lake District

8,500 inhabitants, 387meters above sea level, 25 kilometers south of Nuremberg.

There is much to see, experience and enjoy in the hospitable town of Allersberg.

Where formerly the “wire barons” had their residence, today the lively community presents itself with a rich tradition surrounded by a delightful landscape.

The gate tower welcomes visitors and guests proudly. The first view at the gate of the baroque market place with its historical buildings already enchants the visitor. Particularly remarkable is the baroque church “Maria Himmelfahrt” with the largest ceiling painting in the ecclesiastical district of Eichstätt and the old fortified church “All Saints” with its art treasures.

During a historical tour, which can be booked at the “Verkehrsamt” (tourism office) from May to September, the important history of this market town, first mentioned in the year 1254, is explained in more detail.

Allersberg also.offers various leisure facilities: A very beautiful, heated open-air swimming pool with a 10 meter high diving board, a family station and a pool for children. In “the old railway station”, today's municipal library, you have access to over 10,000 books.

As well as the traditional highlights, Allersberg’s events calendar shows a rich program from January to December.

Event Highlights:

  • Carnival Sunday with one of the largest carnival parades in Franconia
  • The “Kirchweih”, a country fair, on the last weekend in July with the traditional “Jakobimarkt”
  • The citizen's festival in the baroque market place at the end of August
  • The Christmas market, on the second Advent weekend with exhibitions of nativity sets and other local arts and crafts.


Each Saturday an open market takes place from 8 to 12 o'clock in front of the city hall.

There are many walking and cycling paths in and around Allersberg. Besides the culture trail “Rothsee to the Altmühltal Nature Park” a new and special experience are the themed walking ways: “All-Hi-Ro”, “Drahtzieherweg”, “St. Jakob's Way”, “European Watershed” and “Spring waters around the Rothsee”.
